Calling by
contact name
Alexa can place
calls to any
contact that
you've synced to
the Alexa App.
If you want to
call another
Alexa Calling
and Messaging
user on their
Alexa-enabled
device, just
ask: "Alexa,
call Sam" and
Alexa will
default to
placing the call
through Alexa
Calling to Sam’s
compatible
Alexa-enabled
device or the
Alexa App. You
can also ask for
a contact's name
and phone
type—just say:
"Alexa, call
Sam's mobile"
and Alexa will
place the call
using your home
phone service
through your
Echo Connect.
Alexa will call
US local numbers
with a 1 plus
the area code
and telephone
number to ensure
calls connect.
So, for numbers
in your contacts
list saved as:
(206) XXX-XXXX,
Alexa will dial:
1 (206) XXX-XXXX.
This dialing
format may
result in some
home phone
service
providers
disallowing or
charging long
distance call
rates for local
calls. To
disable this
setting, open
the Alexa App,
select Settings,
and tap on Echo
Connect.
|
|
Calling by
number
In addition to
calling your
contacts by
name, Alexa can
also dial
numbers
directly. When
asking Alexa to
dial a number,
say the numbers
as you would
dial them on
your home phone.
For example, if
you normally
would dial a
number with an
area code first,
just ask:
"Alexa, call
844-582-5392" or
"Alexa, call
1-844-582-5392"
if dialing other
area codes
requires a 1. If
you would
normally just
dial seven
digits, just
ask: "Alexa,
call 555-0126."

Customize
incoming call
notifications
You can control
which
Alexa-enabled
devices play
incoming
ringtones. To
disable ringing
on a specific
device,
in the Alexa
App, go to
More+, go
to Settings,
select the
device you want
to silence,
select Volume
icon, slide the
Volume to 0. The
device on silent
will still pulse
a green light
when there is an
incoming call.
You can still
answer and
initiate calls
on a device that
has the ringer
turned off.

Sharing a phone
jack
If you need to
share a phone
jack between
Echo Connect and
a phone, use the
splitter
included with
your Echo
Connect. You can
plug the
splitter into
the phone jack
or directly into
your Echo
Connect.
