There's an option to control the VSS-1 System from your iPad or iPhone or Android from around the room or anywhere. Initiate the calls, preview the video that's on the conference room screens. Manage the calls, connections, IM, SMS, etc. The VSS-1 systems also can include an optional wireless keyboard & mouse as another control alternative.

For Polycom Videoconferencing Systems, the VSS-1 system and the VSS-1-KIT work with most Polycom systems, including:

the Polycom HDX Series - models including the HDX7000-720p rev C and prior, HDX7000-1080p rev C & prior, HDX8000-720p, HDX8000-1080p, HDX9000-720p, HDX9000-1080p, HDX-9001 codec (SD),

Note re HDX 7000 Hardware Version D and beyond in 2014 - Starting with HDX version 3.1.2, Polycom is shipping Hardware Version D on all new HDX 7000 systems. Hardware Version D replaces HDX 7000 hardware version C. The main difference between the versions is that Hardware Version D does not have the output labeled VCR. This output included dual RCA jacks and an S-Video jack. It's no longer included. So the VSS-1-HD version will be needed to support the video output.

Typically your conference room or huddle room has or needs one or more modern TV's, LCD's or plasmas or projectors that support PC or Laptop VGA, DVI, or HDMI video inputs.

For the VSS-1 System, in addition to the Skype Interface, you also get utilities to record video calls. Also you can stream out the live video sessions to up to 50 users on the web (the remote users can see the live or recorded video using Windows Media Player) . . . or to many more remote viewers via Ustream services, etc.

The VSS-1 System has both Standard Definition (SD) systems & High Definition (HD) versions. With the HD Polycom HDX systems listed above, the VSS-1 SD System is all that's required for the full Skype upgrade. Installation services are available.
