Conference rooms and boardrooms need HD, and Sony's EVI-HD1 takes the headache out of this transition with the flip of a switch - literally. Sony is adding a high-definition model to its EVI camera series, with a camera that's compatible with standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD).

The EVI-HD1 camera combines a high-quality HD color video camera with the flexibility of remote pan/tilt/zoom operation. With 14 formats to choose from (including eight HD types and six SD video formats), this new dynamic camera allows end-users to decide any video output from SD to HD.

It also inherits many outstanding features from the EVI-D100 and EVI-D70 P/T/Z camera and couples these with superb HD picture quality. Smooth, high-speed pan/tilt operation, 16x9 aspect ratio images and a built-in 10x optical zoom/wide angle lens, make the EVI-HD1 ideal for small to medium size conference rooms.

    The camera comes with a power supply and remote control. Video cables, control cables and camera mounts need to be ordered separately.

    Basic installation requires electrical power, s-video cable for video and a VISCA control cable. Control can be via the remote control or a PC or a dedicated control solution (a Sony RM-BRC300 or a Telemetrics CP-ITV).  Single cable installation systems are available from Vaddio and Sound Control (combining power, video and control over a single cat-5 cable). Camera Mounts are also required for most installations.
